Doeren Mayhew has acquired Houston CPA firm Sowers & Company, further building its local tax and outsourced accounting capabilities. All Sowers & Company employees joined Doeren Mayhew as of June 18, 2026, and have relocated to Doeren Mayhew’s Houston office.  

“Our Houston office has gained strong momentum in the market over the past year, and Sowers & Company aligns well with our continued strategic growth efforts. Jason and Erin have built a respected tax and accounting practice with strong technical expertise, including an emphasis on estate planning. Their back-office accounting services will also complement our firm nicely,” says Chris Masters, Houston managing principal at Doeren Mayhew Advisors, LLC.  

Jason Sowers founded his practice 20 years ago and has grown Sowers & Company with the support of Erin Fowler, a Sowers & Company shareholder. Together they focused on delivering tax, advisory and accounting support for high-net-worth individuals and small and mid-sized businesses in the Houston area. Both Sowers and Fowler will join Doeren Mayhew’s leadership group in principal roles.

Over the last 12 months, Doeren Mayhew has integrated five firms into its Houston office, bringing its local headcount to nearly 220 employees – a 58% increase since June 2025. The firm also recently announced its acquisition of GRIFFIN Global Technologies, expanding its technology and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
