Doeren Mayhew, a national assurance, tax and advisory firm, has acquired Houston CPA firm Reimer McGuinness Hess CPAs & Advisors (RMH), growing its presence in the market. As a result of the acquisition, all of RMH’s 38 employees joined Doeren Mayhew as of July 1, 2025.

“We’re extremely excited to expand our team with this acquisition,” says Chris Masters, Houston managing principal at Doeren Mayhew. “Like Doeren Mayhew, RMH is known for delivering quality services with a tailored approach, and their complementary services will make for a seamless transition. We’re also looking forward to growing our Houston team with a group of very talented accounting professionals and industry leaders.”

RMH has built a strong reputation in the Houston market providing tax, assurance and outsourced accounting services to small to mid-sized businesses primarily in the health care, manufacturing, real estate and nonprofit sectors. RMH’s former co-founding partner Tom McGuinness will join the firm as a senior advisor, while the remaining former partners, including Randy Reimer, Max Dunlap, Mike Huett, Amy Estes and Shanna Rougeau, will join Doeren Mayhew’s current leadership group as principals.

This latest acquisition supports Doeren Mayhew’s national growth strategy, with a focus on expanding within its current regions and entering new markets. Most recently, the firm acquired three firms in June 2025, including Vanessa Solá’s practice of Frierson, Solá, Simonton & Kutac, PLLC in Houston, and Benoit & Associates CPAs and Draper Bialik & Company CPAs, growing its presence in West Michigan. The firm also recently expanded into the Tennessee market with the acquisition of Thurman Campbell Group, PLC in March 2025.
